Senior Seminar Introduces Students to Academic Life at College

This week’s senior seminar featured a visit from Dr. Catherine Ross (an English professor at U.T. Tyler) and Thomas Duncan (an admissions representative).

Mr. Duncan provided students with free resources from the university, and Dr. Ross explained what students should expect from professors, why professors teach the way they do, why a 4.0 is not the ultimate goal, and how tenure works. She even gave a brief presentation on “professor pet peeves,” as well as examples of syllabi and student papers.

Afterwards, Dr. Ross and Mr. Duncan spoke individually with seniors and then toured the school facility.

The senior seminar program is one more way that The Brook Hill School provides college-preparatory resources for students and their families.UT Tyler Visitors
