“SIZZLIN SUMMER” WORKOUTS
From the desk of Wally Dawkins, Athletic Director:
Remember this quote:
“Athletes aren’t made during the season; they are made during the off-season”.
Truer words have not been spoken. To improve as an athlete, to become stronger, faster, quicker, more flexible, and increase stamina, an individual must find the time to actively engage in activities that promote those athletic qualities.
At Brook Hill, we are committed to making every male and female athlete the best overall athlete they can possibly be.
During the school year, all of our athletes…boy and girl, go through a strength and conditioning program every Monday and Wednesday during the athletic period for 50 minutes. Since most of our athletes participate in multiple sports, it is imperative that as coaches, we provide the time and opportunity for them to improve as athletes year round.
The summer months are no exception.
Even though summer is traditionally a time for travel, vacations, mission trips, camp…you name it, it is also a time that athletes prepare for the upcoming sports seasons.
During the “SIZZLIN SUMMER” of 2015, The Brook Hill Athletic Department is continuing its commitment to Brook Hill student athletes.
Beginning June 1st and ending July 9th, a six week program has been designed for Brook Hill student athletes that will increase strength, improve speed, promote stretching, and add flexibility while developing stamina.
The program is for all Brook Hill student athletes, male and female entering grades 6 through 12.
Strength training will be the focus on Mondays and Wednesdays as boys entering grades 6 through 8 will be in the Kyle Lake Athletic Center downstairs weight room from 8:00-9:00. All girls entering grades 6 through 12 will work out from 8:45 until 9:45, while boys entering grades 9 through 12 will begin at 9:30 and go until 10:30.
The same schedule as above will be repeated on Tuesdays and Thursdays with High Performance Speed Drills. The High Performance Speed Drills will take place in Herrington Stadium on Young Field.
Both the strength training and speed drill sessions will be conducted by members of the Brook Hill Coaching Staff.
There is a nominal fee of $25.00 for each athlete that covers the entire 6 week “SIZZLIN SUMMER” workouts.
As parents, this program provides you a means by which your son or daughter can stay active, improve overall athleticism, and enjoy working out with members of their peer group in an atmosphere that will provide positive encouragement, while pushing each athlete to their personal limit.
Let me encourage you to sign your child up today, by stopping in at The Brook Hill School Athletic Office which is upstairs in The Kyle Lake Athletic center, to enroll in the “SIZZLIN SUMMER” workout program while space is still available.
And then there is this quote:
“There are two athletes awaiting competition. And when they meet, the one who is the best prepared will win”.
Give your athlete the opportunity to prepare this summer so that when the competition begins, they will be the best prepared.
That’s another reason to be “ALL ORANGE…All The Time”!
