Tara grew up in southern West Virginia and studied sports medicine at High Point University before returning to West Virginia to attend Mountain State University on a cheer scholarship. She majored in Environmental Marketing with a management concentration. Tara started her career at the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences of West Virginia, where she gained a solid foundation as a development professional, before gaining valuable Mercedes Benz Customer Service Training and working as a Business Development Manager at Smith Company Motor Cars.

In 2009, Tara moved to Texas, where she worked at the Dallas Arboretum as a Wedding Event Manager and Manager of the Friends of the Arboretum program. Her passion for development and fundraising grew under distinguished leadership. Tara met her husband, Ryan, in Dallas, and they married in 2013. They have two daughters, Carra and Stella.

Tara and her family moved to Bullard, Texas, to join the Brook Hill Family after years of prayer for a Christ-centered school for their young girls. Tara now supports the Development Department at Brook Hill and is honored to be a part of God’s Symphony and all He is doing through such an incredible group of people. Tara loves spending time with her family and enjoys time on the lake, road trips, and fun family adventures in their travel trailer. The Sorrells also serve on the prayer team at Church of the Pines and her favorite verses is: Proverbs 3:4-5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your path straight.”
