Kent Travis came to Brook Hill in the fall of 2001, lured by the vision and the possibilities of what could be done in East Texas. Prior to his move to Brook Hill and his focus on the humanities, he taught such courses as Life Science, Biology, Earth Science, Government, American Literature and British Literature at Veritas Classical Christian School in Texarkana, Arkansas. Mr. Travis holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Humanities from the University of Dallas. He is married to Jacki, his wife of over twenty years. They have four daughters.

Some of Mr. Travis’s interests include playing music (mandolin and guitar), skateboarding, disc golf, volleyball, comics, reading, and writing. He is author of several books, including Soil and Seed: Episodes from the Life of AbrahamYou Want Me to Read What?!, Eating Your Words: An Introduction to Reading Biblical Narrative, and A World in Words: The World-Building of Writing an Academic Essay.
