Turf Baseball Field Groundbreaking

We’re excited to break ground on our new turf baseball field!

New turf, a new baseball season and a new state of the art field were celebrated at Brook Hill this week. Brook Hill’s baseball team, Head Baseball Coach Jerry Courtney, Head of School Rod Fletcher, and Athletic Director Wally Dawkins gathered to break ground at Herrington Field in preparation for our new turf baseball field.

“We’re excited about the new opportunities this turf baseball field will provide our program,” Wally Dawkins, Athletic Director said. “East Texas receives a lot of rainfall during baseball season, but with this new turf field, our teams will be able to play within an hour of heavy rainfall. That means we’ll rarely need to cancel a game.”

Dawkins also says the new turf field will reduce maintenance and annual costs for upkeep.

Brook Hill’s new Head Baseball Coach, Jerry Courtney, is proud to be a part of this new season for Brook Hill Baseball. “This new turf field will be a enable us to conduct practices, games and host events regardless of most weather conditions. This is the exact kind of renovation and statement of support that a historically strong baseball program like Brook Hill deserves. I’m humbled and excited to coach these young men this spring!”

Brook Hill’s baseball program has grown and excelled through the years, with four state championships and multiple graduates going on to play in college and even the majors. This new field and the opportunity to host other schools competitively regardless of the forecast is part of an exciting story that continues to unfold across campus as Brook Hill grows.

“Our new baseball field will be another example of Brook Hill’s excellence,” Dawkins concluded. “Everything we do is quality.”
