What is God’s Will for Me?
From the desk of Dr. Stan Ward, Director of Campus Life & Ministry:
When students ask “What is God’s will for me?” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 gives a definite answer:
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
First Baptist Church of Tyler Pastor*, Pike Wisner, shared this passage of scripture with our MS and US students in chapel this week, explaining that by doing these three things, “it’s difficult to be a jerk.” I appreciate Pike’s application of the text because it goes well with our Guard Charge. When we “live pure, speak true, right wrong, serve others, and follow the King,” it’s also “difficult to be a jerk.” We love having guests like Pike proclaim the good news to our students!
*Brook Hill invites local ministers to be part of our chapel program because we want to encourage students who don’t currently have a church home to connect with local ministries.
