You’re Going to Need a Cowbell

Celia Tucker Cropped

From the desk of Celia Tucker, Academic Counselor:

Has there ever been a time when you just could not get a song or a chant or a rap out of your brain? You found that it just kept coming back over and over again when there would be a slight moment that you weren’t thinking about something else? Okay, it has been happening to me and I totally blame the ninth grade girls. Those precious little energy filled quick learners put such emotion into their Homecoming Week Pep Rally routine that I played it and sang it and chanted it and danced it over and over and over in my head. Okay, I have to blame Jordy, too, he was the reason for the talent show…

I don’t know what I am going to do without our every other day practices. Watching this group be quick thinkers, be flexible, change something and then do it perfectly, accept ideas from each other and from adult leaders, tweak and tweak and tweak some more, be all inclusive, be taken out of their comfort zone, build each other up, laugh and laugh some more, be risk takers,…I could go (and am going) on and on.

You know what I learned (again) about life? We have to accept people where they are while encouraging them to grow. We have to provide a safe, secure environment for them where they can take risks and where they can both fail and be successful and learn how to grow from both. We have to know deep in our hearts that our only purpose for being here is to Honor and Glorify God and that when we are doing that life and its’ many decisions we have to make can be simple and so enjoyable.

That chant…I can’t get it out of my head…and yes, I am going to share it with you…so you can’t get it out of your head either…you are going to need a cowbell…ready…one and two and three and four…got the beat?..not too fast…here we go…
