AdvancED Reaccreditation

From the desk of Rod Fletcher, Headmaster:

Every five years we are reaccredited by AdvancED.   Reaccreditation is an arduous process by which we prove that we meet external standards and show that we are continuously improving as a school.  We have chosen AdvancED as our accrediting agency because of its rigor and reputation – in my opinion it is the best one to provide validation to a school community.  (From the AdvancED web site, “AdvancED is the largest community of education professionals in the world. We are a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of PreK-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential.” www.advanc-ed.org)

This week we went through our five-year reaccreditation.  After months of work, we presented a detailed report of Brook Hill to an external review team who spent two and a half days on campus examining our school.  At the end of their visit they notified us that we were reaccredited.  But just saying that we received our reaccreditation does not tell the story.  To say that they were “blown away” by their experience at Brook Hill would be an understatement.  They said those exact words and even stated that Brook Hill was one of the top schools they had ever visited.  They described our students as “confident both academically and spiritually.”  They noted that our teachers are “engaging” and our students “love being at school.”  It was an incredibly encouraging and affirming few days.  It means a lot when someone from the outside looks in and likes what they see.
