Baseball: Brook Hill tops Tyler Bishop Gorman, 16-4

Brook Hill varsity baseball trailed for a little while. Then the Guard scored 11 runs in the bottom of the second to overpower Tyler Bishop Gorman 16-4 Tuesday in their TAPPS Division II District 3 game.

Campbell Fletcher went 3 for 3 with two RBIs and three runs scored with Tyler Overbeek finishing 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs. Parham drove in four to lead all players, highlighted by a bases-clearing double.

All told, the Guard scored a combined 16 runs in the second and third innings while finishing overall with 14 hits.

Brook Hill (11-6) starter Logan Langford allowed three unearned runs in the first two innings, but blanked Gorman after that for the victory. Langford finished with four strikeouts. Dakota Gillespie tossed an inning of relief before the game was called after the fifth because of the 10-run rule.

Miguel Vega stepped into the batter’s box with his team trailing 3-0 in the bottom of the second. Vega reached on an infield error with Fletcher following with a single to put two runners on with no outs. A bunt single by Logan Langford loaded the bases.

Overbeek got Brook Hill on the board with a sharp single to center field that scored Vega and kept the bases loaded. Parham drew a bases-loaded walk to score Fletcher and make it 3-2. With the bases still loaded and no outs, Logan Fitzgerald put the Guard in front 4-3 with a two-run double to left field that scored Langford and Overbeek.

Reid Hill followed with an RBI single to score Parham and make it 5-3.

The Guard recorded their first out, but the bases were still loaded and Vega took advantage in his second at-bat of the inning, lacing a two-run single to right field that scored Fitzgerald and Hill. Fletcher followed with his second hit of the inning to score Moss and make it 8-3.

Overbeek reached on a hit batter to load the bases once more for Parham, who cleared them with a three-run double and 11-3 lead.

Brook Hill tacked on five more insurance runs in the third. Doubles by Hill and Moss plated the 12th run with Fletcher delivering his third single of the game to score Moss and make it 13-3. A two-run single from Overbeek scored courtesy runner Minchan Jeong and Fletcher to increase the lead to 15-3 with courtesy runner Tagen Parma coming home for the 16th run on an error.
