Brook Hill’s Brooks Parham doubled and Miguel Vega homered to lead the Guard varsity past Tyler Grace Community 11-1 on Tuesday.
The Guard took 2 of 3 games vs. Grace in their TAPPS Division II District 3 series.
Vega also got the win on the mound, allowing one run on four hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Josh Jenkins pitched one inning of scoreless relief.
Brook Hill grabbed a 3-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Seth Moss walked to lead off, stole second and went to third on a dropped third strike that allowed Parham to reach. Moss then stole home to make it 1-0. A single by Reid Hill put two runners with both eventually scoring on miscues by Grace.

Campbell Fletcher followed with a single and eventually made it to third after Tyler Overbeek was hit by a pitch and Seth Moss reached on an infield single to load the bases. An error scored Fletcher with Parham taking care of the rest with a two-run double and 7-0 lead.
The Guard stretched their lead with four more runs in the fifth inning. Cole Fitzgerald drove in Overbeek and Moss with a two-run single, and Fitzgerald scored on an RBI single from Josh Jenkins. Reid Hill reached on a fielder’s choice and eventually scored on an error to make it 11-1.
