For Nerd is the Word, our aim was to look at things in the entertainment industry—things that are often called “nerdy,” like comics, ukuleles, sci-fi films, and some games—and show the art and impact behind them. We merely scratched the surface of this broad and deep topic, but along the way we built ukuleles from a kit,  learned about and read comics, watched and discussed a couple sci-fi films, presented games of our choice and then played some of them together, and we learned some very basic computer coding skills. New perspectives were added to how we see entertainment and art. And some of the participants picked up a new instrument and are learning to play it! Huah.
