Robot project began with a story, The Tale of Peter Rabbit, by Beatrix Potter.
Then students used iPads to research how to plan a garden. Small groups collaborated to create a paper garden based on research findings. Students also considered measurements between rows that allowed our robots to move through and among vegetables. Then fifth graders planned and programmed robot to complete a task. Each group demonstrated outcomes to other students. Students were totally engaged as they demonstrated collaboration, communication, creativity and critical thinking skills.
