College Prep: Lightning Round of Representatives

Twelve college representatives joined us on campus for an information session with the junior class.

Following our annual junior “College Kick-Off Night” this past week, we had the opportunity to host college representatives for a lightning round of “real talk” with our junior class.

Ouachita Baptist, Arkansas, UT Austin, Texas Tech, High Point University, Louisiana Tech, Bradley, Samford, TJC, UT Tyler, Texas A & M, and UNT representatives gave students admissions requirements, application specifics, and shared with students about the things that make their individual campuses special.

Though our students have been visiting college campuses since 6th grade, spring semester junior year is when it finally begins to feel “in sight” for our students as they choose their senior classes and final high school internships. For our juniors, we take this spring semester as an opportunity to ask them if they feel proud of their resume, of their GPA, of their extra-curricular activities, of who they’re becoming. We can see the finish line for them but know that there’s still time to adjust. There’s time to strengthen their grades and add to their resume, time to try something new or change their mind about where they thought they might go!

Juniors received their “college admissions playbook” at the College Kick-Off Night event marking the beginning of senior seminars and paving the way for our lightning round of representatives that visited campus!

As we cheer our seniors on towards graduation and the schools that they have worked so hard to get into – we’re hoping that our juniors feel inspired to keep dreaming, working, and considering what comes next. For those with junior year students, we encourage you to keep listening, keep encouraging, and keep supporting them as they explore their options!
