ALPHABET SOUP

A is for airplane, B is for boots, C is for cannon! Mrs. Spradlin, Mrs. Newman and Mrs. Overbeek’s Kindergarten classes came for their first tour of the American Freedom Museum today. The Museum’s Alphabet Soup tour introduces our youngest students to America’s story. We made 3 full trips through the galleries in the museum. First, we identified artifacts. Most kindergarten students don’t know what a musket or a bayonet is, so we found and measured some! We looked at the similarities between U.S. flags from the Civil War and the flags of today. However, they had to earn their “ride’ on the C-47 paratrooper plane by taking a quiz. Each student received a letter from the alphabet and had to go back through the museum to find something that started with their letter. The class made their 3rd trip around, this time checking their classmates choices! Dice, eagles, forks, gliders, hats, jeeps, laces and lifesavers – doctors – all made the quiz! We love our kindergartners and can’t wait for them to come back and visit the Museum!
