Scott Roark stops by the cabin for a cup of coffee and a hug!

From the desk of Ginger Bell, Director of Family and Alumni Relations:

As one of the first graduates of Brook Hill, Scott Roark has always had a place in our hearts.  Even when Scott came to Brook Hill his Junior year, it was evident we could expect great things from him and he certainly has not let us down.

Scott went on to Baylor University, graduating with an Engineering and Computer degree and then went on to Arizona State University where he earned his MBA.  His call after that was to serve his country.  In fact, you may have seen Scott’s photo on the wall in the American Freedom Museum along with those of other Brook Hill alum who proudly serve or served our country.  One of the displays you see when first entering the museum foyer includes Scott’s gear which he proudly donated to the museum for display.

Having recently retired as an Air Force Captain, Scott came to Brook Hill for a visit this week and dropped in to the cabin for a cup of coffee and to catch up on his classmates.  We were blessed to share some wonderful memories of those first few years and several of our long time teachers were able to catch up at lunch.  Scott also spoke with our faculty during Staff Development Wednesday morning.  His words to students at Brook Hill today are to seek the counsel of people who have your best interest at heart and that’s what he found at Brook Hill.  Scott also encouraged the faculty to continue to teach our students how to make principled based decisions!  Wise words from a wise young man.

Scott is enjoying taking a short amount of time to re-acclimate to family life.  Married in 2007, this is the first time he and his wife, Emily, have actually gotten to live together for any period of time as they both have been deployed many times over the last several years.  Emily is finishing her school work to become a nurse anesthetist and then will continue serving the Air Force.  Scott will also continue serving others – in whatever capacity he is called.  He and Emily feel they have been so blessed and want to continue impacting others for the good.

We appreciate you and are so proud for you, Scott and Emily.
