Lady Guard make quick work of Bishop Gorman

Led by nine kills from Adrianna Kuechle, Brook Hill varsity defeated Tyler Bishop Gorman in sweep fashion, winning 25-15, 25-11, 25-14 on Friday.

The win raised the Lady Guard’s record to 3-2 and placed Brook Hill in second place in TAPPS 3-5A with one more league match remaining against district-leading Tyler All Saints.

A win against All Saints clinches second place for the Lady Guard. A loss, coupled with a Tyler Grace Community win over Gorman, would make a tie for second place at 3-2. The teams split their district series, so a district playoff would then be needed to determing the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds for the playoffs.

Against Gorman, Brook Hill received contributions from several areas. While Kuechle, Megan Priddy (7 kills) and Maddie Anthony (6 kills) paced the offense, the defense was led by Brianna Young’s 18 digs. Kuechle also finished with 11 digs.

Setter Lauren Eden provided 19 assists with Brook Hill also dealing out a combined 10 ace serves in the three games with Maddie Anthony, Kuechle, Kay Kay Smith and Priddy all notching two aces apiece.
