Service Award winner, Wade Karam,’10

From the desk of Ginger Bell, Director of Family and Alumni Relations:

Just like most parents who like to showcase their children, I like to stop every now and then to share the news about our graduates.  Just yesterday, I was excited to see Wade Karam’s, ’12, face shining across my facebook page.  Wade and his older sister Samantha came to Brook Hill from Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2009.  They were some of our first boarding students coming to us from Aramco Oil Company, whose employees traditionally send their children back to the U.S. for Upper School.  Wade immediately jumped into life at Brook Hill…academics, athletics, and the boarding program.  After graduating Magna Cum Laude, Homecoming King, and Captain of the track team where he advanced to the state championship round, Wade moved to Texas A&M where he continues to make us proud.  He competes on the Aggie Track Team and continues to knock out stellar grades while serving others. Wade’s most recent accolade, alongside Lauren Beers of the University of Alabama, is being named a Brad Davis Community Service Award winner for 2015-2016.

“Beers and Karam were chosen by a committee of Faculty Athletics Representatives from SEC universities.  Each will receive a $10,000 post-graduate scholarship, provided by the SEC.”

“SEC student-athletes are as active in their communities as they are accomplished in athletic competition and academic endeavors,” said Sankey.  “Lauren Beers and Wade Karam epitomize the commitment to a well-rounded college experience and they truly represent all that can be achieved by student-athletes in the Southeastern Conference.  I congratulate them and the universities they represent on this prestigious recognition.”

We are so proud that Wade continues to not only excel on the track and in the classroom, but also in character as he serves  our community. Just one more example of the caliber of graduates who matriculate from Brook Hill!
