Want to help new families get connected at Brook Hill?

Staff Portraits-11-2

From the desk of Ginger Bell, Director of Family and Alumni Relations:

Do you remember what it felt like when you enrolled your child at Brook Hill?  Those first few days…did you feel settled and have all the answers you needed to feel a part of the community right away?  Or…..  Were you lost?  What time do I have to get to them to school?  When can I pick them up?  Wait, what do they wear on what day?  Is the Lower School included in the Back to School Picnic?  So many other questions come to mind.

As with most new ventures there are usually so many questions to be answered before you feel settled.  To help our new families get settled more quickly and smoothly, we are starting a new program called “Connecting Families.”  We will have current families designated to give a special welcome to our new families.  They will be there to answer those random questions that pop up, they will introduce their children to each other before school starts, they may plan get-togethers with other families, they may even become lifelong friends!  But, whatever the case, they will help our new Brook Hill family members feel comfortable in our community.

Does this sound like something you would enjoy doing?  Would you like to be part of planning the program?  Your input would be greatly appreciated.  We will have our first meeting Friday, April 22 at 8:30 in The Cabin.  Attendance is not mandatory to participate, but please at least let me know if you would be willing to be a connecting family.  Join us for coffee and planning, if you can, and let’s welcome our new families extra well this year!
