1st grade students hosted their mothers & grandmothers for a tea party and poetry reading today. Over the past few weeks students have been learning about, reading, and writing their own poetry – this afternoon, as a culminating event, students read their favorite poem out loud and served tea and snacks to their mothers and grandmothers. The event was a unique opportunity for our students to grow in their ability to speak and present to groups of people, express their thoughts and feelings, as well as taking a great opportunity to serve those who love and serve them every day – their mothers and grandmothers!
