6th Visits Gem and Mineral Show

Sixth graders attended the student day at the Gem and Mineral Show at the Rose Garden Center in Tyler.  Students saw demonstrations of gold mining, faceting stones, cutting and polishing gems, and making jewelry.  They even got to see rocks that glowed in the dark and an amazing display of rocks and minerals that look like all different kinds of food.  Students were challenged to find the one item on the table that was actually real food.  It turned out to be chocolate rock candies.  Finally, students were able to shop.

Geodes are always the favorite but many found other cool items to purchase.  Neely Clark said she was surprised how interesting it was and how many beautiful things God has made for us to enjoy!
