Baseball: Guard win 2 of 3 during weekend

Brook Hill moved over .500 thanks to a strong showing this past weekend. The Guard defeated Kemp on Thursday and Crockett on Friday. Ferris prevented it from being a perfect weekend.

The two wins gives the Guard a 5-4 mark with their next game Monday at home against Union Grove.

Guard 9, Kemp 5

Miguel Vega drove in three runs with Logan Langford going 2 for 2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Langford picked up the win on the mound, allowing five runs — none of them earned — while allowing four hits and six walks with five strikeouts.

The game was tied 5-5 after four innings with Campbell Fletcher putting the Guard in front to stay. He singled with one out and moved around to third on a single by Tyler Overbeek before racing home when Kemp’s centerfielder dropped a fly ball.

Brook Hill added three insurance runs in the sixth on an RBI triple by Vega, an RBI single from Fletcher and RBI double by Overbeek.
