Basketball: Guard season ends in area playoff loss

Brook Hill’s 2016-17 basketball season came to a close in a TAPPS 5A area playoff loss against Tyler All Saints.

The Guard trailed by four points at halftime, but was outscored 34-22 in the second half.

“We just weren’t the better team tonight, but I am proud of the fight the boys showed,” Brook Hill coach Jacob Agnew said. “It’s not how we wanted to finish the year, but it has been an honor to coach these seniors, who have done great things in their respective careers here at Brook Hill. There’s no doubt in my mind that we will be back next year.”

The seniors who played their final basketball game for the Guard are:

ALEC KITT

PARKER GALBRAITH

DAVID CHAMBLESS

JACOB YEAGER

JORDAN DAY

BROOKS PARHAM

The loss closed Brook Hill’s season as bi-district champions with an 11-16 record. The Guard return nine lettermen from this year’s team, which returned to the playoffs and took out Dallas Christian in the bi-district round.
