Bird Beaks & Creation

Third graders are studying animal adaptations. To understand how a bird’s beak is adapted for what it eats, students used different utensils to try to pick up different items such as a marble, rubber band, macaroni, plastic disc, and styrofoam. The objective was to move the “food item” from one plate to another to represent feeding. Students found that some utensils could pick up all items but some could not. A great way to reinforce how God made the birds’ beaks different.
