Blanket Drive for Chick-fil-A Leader Academy

This year, our school is honored to be a part of the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy. We have thirty members who consist of our Upper School students that are eager to serve our community through this organization.

Mission:

Students will impact their local communities through a project based leadership approach, all while learning crucial leadership lessons. At the end of each school year, Leader Academy culminates with student-led and student-run “Impact Projects” in each local community.

What is Chick-fil-A Leader Academy?

  • Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is a national high school leadership program focused on impact through action. It is a yearlong curriculum engaging students with a monthly “Leader Lab” focusing on important leadership skills. The cornerstone of Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is the year-end Impact Project. Students in the program rally students in their school to organize and execute projects that make a difference in communities across America. The impact project is student-planned and student-led.
  • It is a year-long curriculum, taught once per month in school for approximately one hour. It can be taught during or after school for up to 30 students, grades 9-12.
  • Chick-fil-A Leader Academy focuses on the following leadership insights: vision and values, servant leadership, teamwork, communication, innovation and impact.
  • Chick-fil-A Leader Academy is growing, with 700+ schools involved in 2017 and more than 1,000 schools expected to be involved in the next few years.

Dates of Drive: November 28th – December 13th

“Do Good December”

This is an impact service project with an opportunity to put servant leadership into action. This year, our students have chosen to host a blanket drive that will be benefiting Azleway. Azleway is a faith-based agency that helps children and families in crisis. The students were responsible for planning organizing and implementing the service project. As a fun incentive, the students have made this donation a competition. At the Lower School, the class that donates the most blankets will receive a Chick-fil-A breakfast (donated by Chick-fil-A). At the Middle and Upper School, the advisory group that bring the most blankets wins a free Chick-fil-A breakfast.

Quote from Erica Mattay, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy Facilitator

“Chick-fil-A Leader Academy provides a fresh approach to leadership development,” Erica Mattay, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy Facilitator, said. “The students participating in the program this year are exceptional. It has been an honor to watch them brainstorm, plan, organize, and implement their first impact project!”
