Brook Hill Students Participate in Career Connections Event

Seven Brook Hill students and their very proud counselor, Celia Tucker, attended the Chamber of Commerce’s Career Connections Event on January 9th at the Tyler Junior College West Campus. Students attended sessions led by professionals who are currently working in the fields the students are considering pursuing. Students also had the chance to work with Human Resource Officers who reviewed their resumes and conducted mock interviews in addition to hearing from banking professionals who presented valuable information about financial literacy. The Career Connection event concluded with lunch and guest speaker Chad Foster, an entrepreneur and best-selling author, who told the students that pursuing dreams daily, learning to communicate well and seeking knowledge are keys to a successful career. An added bonus for these students is that to be selected to attend this event they had to fill out an application, prepare a resume, and write an essay. Next year when they are getting ready for college they will fill out an application, prepare a resume, and write an essay. What a great start for them!
