Choir competes at TAPPS vocal meet
Members of the Upper School Guard Chorale and JV Choir competed in the solo and small ensemble categories at the first round of the TAPPS State Vocal Meet on Friday, March 31 at The University of Texas at Arlington.
Five out of seven Brook Hill ensembles received Superior ratings, which is the highest rating given at the contest. Two of the ensembles received Excellent ratings. Two soloists also received Superior ratings: Cate Kimball and Hayden Hommel. Kimball also received special recognition as an All-State Soloist for receiving the top score possible on the most difficult level of solo music. David Chambless received an Excellent rating for his solo.
This is the most Brook Hill ensembles to receive a Superior rating at one contest in the school’s history, and it is also the first time an all-freshman ensemble has received a Superior rating at a TAPPS contest. The choir will continue to the next round of the state vocal meet on April 22 where they will compete with the large group and sight-reading events in Waco.
