Dissecting Frogs in Biology

We are currently studying vertebrate diversity in biology.  Frogs belong to the vertebrate class amphibian, so this species worked perfectly for our dissection lab.   Dissection allows the student to explore the external and internal structures of a common vertebrate, identifying anatomy and seeing how what they’r learning in class looks in real life.  This experience is then applied to discussion of amphibian life processes.  From there, students can expand their understanding of the various classes of vertebrates as they compare and contrast their life processes to those of the frog.
