Entrepreneurship: From Brook Hill to the Flower Shop

French Peas Owners Speak with Entrepreneurship Class

Brook Hill Alumni and now current parent, Mary Caroline, with her mom, Sarah, and sister Elizabeth shared their experience purchasing, owning, and growing a local flower shop with our entrepreneurship students this week. The trio purchased French Peas in 2022 and have since grown the flower shop, even earning the contract for the Rose Festival, a landmark East Texas event, thereby solidifying their place as a prominent florist in the region.

Students learned more about the process of finding and purchasing a business and what it was like for the sisters to grow up in a family that started and ran their own businesses. Perhaps the greatest insight came when a student asked if they had any experience running a flower shop and how they were able to learn and grow a new business.

We weren’t expert florits when we purchased French Peas, but our parents taught us that the same principals are foundational to every business – customer service, quality products, and hard work.” – Mary Caroline

Our entrepreneurship class hosts business owners and entrepreneurs each week, giving them the opportunity to learn about other businesses, and learn principals and ideas they can follow to one day do the same. Learn more about The Brook Hill School of Business here.
