Guard 7th, 8th grade football teams come up short against Dallas Christian

Brook Hill’s 7th and 8th grade football teams squared off against Dallas Christian on Thursday on the road and came back empty with two losses.

The Guard 7th grade was denied 12-0 with the Guard 8th grade team falling 40-6.

In the 7th grade game, quarterback Carson Richards led the Guard with 46 yards rushing as he continually was able to scramble to avoid the rush and pick up solid yardage.

The Guard 7th grade defense was paced by Colby Davis, who finished with 13 tackles. Chandler Fletcher and Conner Carson also played a big role in the defense holding DC to just two touchdowns. Fletcher finished with 5 tackles and Carson ended up with 4 tackles.

In the 8th grade game, Brook Hill struggled to find a rhythm on offense against Dallas Christian while the Guard defense couldn’t stop DC’s running back.

Quarterback Mason Kelley passes for 44 yards and running back Gavin Welling scored the Guard’s touchdown with a 6-yard run.

On defense, Colby Davis led the 8th grade Guard with 11 tackles. Teammates Kamron Ayria (5 tackles) and Seth Moss (4 tackles) also did their part in attempting to hold down Dallas Christian.

The Guard teams will look to rebound this week at home against Dallas Shelton. The 7th grade game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. with the 8th grade game to follow.
