Guard 7th grade blanks Dallas Shelton, 14-0

The 7th Grade Guard did all of its damage on offense in the first half while their defense held down Dallas Shelton for a 14-0 shutout win on Thursday.

Brook Hill did not waste time in establishing an 8-0 advantage by scoring on its first possession.

The Guard took advantage of Dallas Shelton fumbling on the opening kickoff.

Then quarterback Carson Richards fired a pass to Conner Carson, who was tackled at the 2-yard line. From there, Joseph Johnson took it into the end zone for a 6-0 lead. The Guard opted to go for 2 and Boston Durrett took care of it by catching a pass from Richards for an 8-0 lead.

Brook Hill’s defense stuffed Dallas Shelton, thanks to a tackle for loss by Mason Barker, to get the ball back and the Guard were quickly in the end zone again.

Chandler Fletcher caught a short pass in the middle of Shelton’s defense and raced 38 yards to pay-dirt and a 14-0 lead.

Brook Hill did not score anymore, but the Guard didn’t have to, thanks to the defense dominating from start to finish. The stop unit was led by Colby Davis’ 8 tackles. Jaeger Gowin, Boston Durrett, Chandler Fletcher and Mason Barker also all had three tackles a piece with Braden Wheat notching one tackle.
