Guard come up short in loss to Frisco Legacy Christian

Brook Hill started slowly Tuesday against Frisco Legacy Christian and spent the remainder of the game trying to catch up to the visiting Eagles before ultimately succumbing 65-61 in their game at Herrington Gym.

The Guard pulled to within one point, 46-45, on a 3-pointer from Parker Galbraith with three seconds remaining, but Legacy Christian hit a trey of its own at the buzzer to re-establish the four-point lead that ended up being the final deficit.

“The guys showed a lot of grit tonight. I am proud of them for that. We just keep putting ourselves in a whole and then we have to keep digging ourselves out. There were chances for us in the fourth quarter, but unfortunately a few made shots for them and a few missed shots for us was the difference.”  Guard coach Jacob Agnew

Guard senior McCray Fletcher led the team scoring 19 points with Galbraith (17) and Ryan Cox (10) also finishing in double figures.

The loss dropped Brook Hill to 13-12 overall and 2-4 in TAPPS District 2-4A play. If the season ended today, the Guard would enter the district tournament as the No. 6 or No. 7 seed.

Brook Hill has two games remaining at Tyler All Saints and home against Tyler Grace Community. First up is Friday against All Saints with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off scheduled for Brookshire Gym.

“We are really going to have to step it up these next two games in order to get some momentum heading into the district tournament,” Agnew said.
