Guard defeat Shelton, paste Prince of Peace in series sweeps

The Guard baseball team bounced back from their first district loss to rack up four league wins in four days, three of them in a runaway fashion.

Brook Hill began with two games against Dallas Shelton. After a lightning delay halted their game in the middle innings, the game was resumed with the Guard eventually pulling out a 12-10 extra-inning victory. Their next encounter, a day later, was not near as dramatic with Brook Hill blanking Shelton 13-0.

This led Saturday’s double header against Carrollton Prince of Peace. The Guard outscored PoP 33-2 in the two games, highlighted by a no-hitter thrown by Ryan Cox in the first game, 14-0 four-inning win. In Game 2, Reid Hill allowed one run on three hits, but it paled in comparison to the 18 runs on 11 hits the Guard provided for him in an 18-1 win, also called after the fourth inning.
