Brook Hill honored its seniors and took are of business Tuesday with a 7-4 Senior Night victory over Tyler Bishop Gorman. The win moved the Guard one more victory away from tying for first place and clinching a share of the TAPPS District 2-4A title.

The Guard close out the regular season Thursday on the road at Tyler Bishop Gorman.

Guard hurlers Josh Jenkins and Ryan Cox combined to allow four runs — none of them earned — while scattering 10 hits with five strikeouts. Cox entered in the fourth inning and went the rest of the way to get the win.

Brook Hill fell behind 3-0 after the top of the first, but chipped away at its deficit before a four-run fifth inning put the Guard in front to stay.

McCray Fletcher got Brook Hill on the board in the bottom of the first when the senior led off with a single and later scored on an RBI single from Chase Moore.

Campbell Fletcher cut the Guard’s deficit to 3-2 in the second inning with a one-out double that scored Ryan Cox.

Trailing 4-2 in the third, Josh Jenkins again put the Guard within a run with an RBI double that scored Brasher.

Brook Hill went in front to stay in the bottom of the fifth. Parker Clark doubled to lead off and scored on a single by Miguel Vega to tie the game, 4-4.

The Guard went in front on an RBI double by Brasher that scored Vega.

Campbell Fletcher later followed with a single to score Jenkins, who had reached on an error. Brook Hill now led 6-4, but wasn’t finished as Ryan Cox singled and later scored when McCray Fletcher reached on an error.

The rest was up to Cox on the mound and he blanked Gorman the rest of the way.
