Guard 10, Thorndale 0, 5 innings

Brook Hill scored runs in four consecutive innings while pitchers Mason Smith and Marty Foster combined on a no-hitter in a dominant performance over Thorndale.

Smith went four innings with seven strikeouts with Foster pitching the fifth inning, allowing a walk with a strikeout.

The Guard offense provided their pitchers more than offense with six different players delivering doubles. Chase Moore went 2 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored and Miguel Vega went 2 for 3 with an RBI and run scored.

Brook Hill scored all the runs it would need in the bottom of the first. Moore led off with a single and went around to third on two errors. Seth Brasher took advantage of the RBI chance, driving Moore in with a single. Brasher then stole second and went to third on a wild pitch before trotting home on a single from Vega.

The Guard broke the game open with four runs in the second. Smith had an RBI double with Logan Langford, Moore, Minchan Jeong and Vega crossing home plate to make it 6-0.

Brook Hill added four more runs in the third and fourth innings to put into play the 10-run rule after five.

Brook Hill scored five runs in the middle innings to help secure a 6-3 victory.

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Brook Hill scored two runs on three hits and a walk, all coming with two outs, to take the lead. The Guard were not finished as Logan Fitzgerald singled to left field to plate Overbeek.

The Guard tacked on three more runs in the fifth, again all of them coming with two outs. Moore and Brasher both singled and Smith reached on an error to load the bases. Moore scored on a wild pitch with both runners moving up for Overbeek who ripped a two-run double to make it 5-1.

Fitzgerald added one more run in the sixth when he walked and stole second, third and home.

Logan Langford got the win on the mound, allowing three runs — one of them earned — on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Josh Jenkins pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
