Guard’s magical playoff run ends in TAPPS 4A quarterfinals

Brook Hill hit eight 3-pointers and got 15 points from Colton Adams, but it was not enough in a 69-53 loss to Fort Worth Southwest Christian in the TAPPS 4A quarterfinals.

The loss completed the Guard’s season at 18-15. During that time Brook Hill won bi-district and area championships. The Guard were the only team remaining from TAPPS 2-4A.

Brook Hill went into the locker room at halftime tied 29-29, but was outscored 40-24 in the second half.

“No one wants the season to be over, but with the effort of this team I couldn’t be more proud,” Guard coach Jacob Agnew said. “They set the standard for what it means to wear a Brook Hill jersey: work hard, play together, play smart and always go 100 percent in whatever you do.

“The seniors on the team will be missed, but their legacy and lessons that they have left for the underclassmen will continue on.”

Alec Kitt, McCray Fletcher and Reid Hill all scored nine points apiece for Brook Hill, which reached the quarterfinals by winning in overtime over Austin Savio Catholic.

Brook Hill also produced overtime magic in the TAPPS 2-4A tourament in the Third Place Game to give the Guard momentum entering the playoffs, which the team used.
