Guard Varsity drops district opener at home to Dallas Christian

Brook Hill opened TAPPS Division II District 2 play with a 55-7 loss to Dallas Christian Friday at Allen Field at Herrington Stadium.

The Guard were held to 212 total yards and senior quarterback McCray Fletcher was sacked five times. The Guard also turned it over twice.

Fletcher finished the game completing 8 of 21 passes for 183 yards.

Three of Fletcher’s completions were big plays — two to senior receiver Seth Brasher and one to junior receiver Parker Galbraith. Fletcher and Galbraith combined for a 44-yard hookup and Brasher caught a 40-yard pass in the first half.

The Guard trailed 41-0 at halftime.

Late in the second half, Fletcher dropped back and delivered a 51-yard pass to Brasher, which helped set up the Guard’s touchdown.

Senior Jacob Day powered in from 3 yards and senior Caleb Chadwell converted the extra point to make the final score.

The loss dropped Brook Hill to 0-1 in district and 1-3 overall.

Brook Hill will look to bounce back this week when the Guard take on Dallas Shelton, which won its opening game by one point over Tyler All Saints. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Dallas Shelton School.
