Wednesday, Brian Nelson, Dean of Academics at The Brook Hill School, announced that Brook Hill senior, Jake Anderson, was been named a Commended Scholar in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended students placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2015 competition by taking the 2013 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

Jake, a senior at Brook Hill, feels a great sense of relief after hearing the news. “It is kind of a relief . . . to have worked so hard and be rewarded for that.”

Jake is not sure where he will go to college yet, but he says receiving this honor “has motivated me to put my best foot forward and go after whatever I choose to do.”

Brian Nelson and the faculty at The Brook Hill School could not be prouder of Jake’s accomplishment. “We’re extremely proud of Jake and what he has already accomplished. I am excited to see where the Lord leads him and how he uses his gifts and talents in the future. We’re proud of Jake, and we know he will continue to make us proud in the future.”

Dave Anderson, Jake’s Father also shared his excitement. “We are so proud of Jake and excited that he has received this recognition. We are thankful for Brook Hill and all the teachers that have poured into him since he came in the 5th grade. We know that he has God-given talent but it’s been nurtured at Brook Hill and there has been a lot of people who have helped him achieve this goal.”
