FRISCO — The Lady Guard enjoyed a solid weekend at the Frisco Early Bird Classic, winning matches over Dallas Lutheran and Colleyville Covenant before falling short to Frisco Legacy Christian.

While all of this was happening, Brook Hill JV was taking third place at the Eustace TNT. The Lady Guard JV defeated Grand Saline (25-21, 23-25, 15-10), and Kerens (25-20, 25-17) before falling to Brownsboro (19-25, 18-25) to take third.

The 2-1 weekend evened the Lady Guard’s varsity record to 2-2 overall.

Brook Hill started strong with a 2-0 win over Dallas Lutheran on Friday. Junior outside hitter Zoe Hayes and senior Lauren Eden led the way offensively for the Lady Guard, combining for four of the team’s total 16 kills. Eden also had eight assists with junior Maddie Anthony adding six assists to go with three kills.

On defense, senior libero Brianna Young finished with eight digs. Anthony also had eight digs with Hayes (3), Young (2) Eden (1) and Anthony (1) all registering service aces.

In their second matchup, Brook Hill took out Colleyville Covenant in a two-game sweep. Senior Kay Kay Smith led with five kills on offense with Hayes adding three kills of her own.

Brook Hill totaled eight blocks with Megan Priddy and Morgan Carpenter each finishing with two stuffs apiece.

Setters Lauren Eden and Maddie Anthony finished with 11 assists apiece and libero Brianna Young totaled 10 digs.

In their third and final match, Brook Hill was stopped in two games by Legacy Christian.

Brook Hill had 11 kills as a team and also 11 blocks with the Lady Guard leading with their defense. Kay Kay Smith and Morgan Carpenter each finished with four blocks apiece and Brianna Young had eight digs in the loss.
