Girls Hoops: Lady Guard grab big district win over Tyler Gorman, 37-34

Brook Hill’s Lauren Eden and AD Kuehle combined to score 35 of the Lady Guard’s 37 points in a big 37-34 victory over Tyler Bishop T.K. Gorman on Tuesday.

The Lady Guard raised their record to 8-16 overall, but more importantly, the win makes Brook Hill 2-3 in TAPPS District 3-5A and keeps it in third place.

The Lady Guard have a chance to affect the district championship with their final regular-season game Tuesday as Brook Hill hosts All Saints (4-1) on Senior Night at Herrington Gymnasium. The Lady Trojans are currently tied with Grace for the league lead.

As for Tuesday, it was all about the finish. The Guard trailed 15-10 at halftime and 26-20 entering the fourth and final quarter.

Brook Hill rallied in the final eight minutes, outscoring their visitors 17-8, thanks to strong free-throw shooting by Kuechle, who was a perfect 8 for 8 from the charity stripe to finish with 17 points.

Meanwhile Eden was doing damage from beyond the three-point arc, connecting on three treys as part of her team-high 18 points.

Autumn Webb took care of the rest of the night’s offense with two points.

Eden and Webb also finished with eight rebounds apiece and combined for eight of Brook Hill’s 10 steals.
