The Lady Guard dropped two games Thursday at the Franklin High School Varsity Basketball tournament. Brook Hill lost to Giddings 64-24 and host Franklin 74-43.

Juniors Mia Martinico and Lauren Eden led the offense with Martinico scoring 11 points against Franklin and 10 against Giddings while Eden finished with nine points against Franklin and added another four against Giddings.

In both losses, turnovers and missed shots limited Brook Hill with the Lady Guard committing 19 in both games and shooting 23.5 percent against Franklin and 19 percent against Giddings.

The Lady Guard were able to stay with Franklin in the first period of their los, trailing by just two points, 15-13, after the first period. The missed shots and turnovers added up in the second and third periods, allowing Franklin to pull away. Franklin led 34-18 at halftime and 54-25 entering the fourth period.

Giddings took command early, building a 30-9 lead after the first period and held a 41-11 lead at the break. The deficit was 52-18 entering the fourth.

The setbacks give Brook Hill a 5-6 record for the season with more games scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Franklin High School.
