Lady Guard outlasts Tyler Grace in five games

TYLER — Brook Hill jumped into a tie for second place in the TAPPS 3-5A standings with a 3-2 victory over Tyler Grace Community on Thursday.

The Lady Guard moved to 2-2 in district and 19-9 overall following their 25-21, 16-25, 25-23, 22-25, and 15-10 victory.

Senior Kay Kay Smith led the offense with 13 kills. Sophomore Morgan Carpenter and senior Megan Priddy totaled nine kills apiece and junior Maddie Anthony finished with eight kills.

Defensively, senior Brianna Young was everywhere for the Lady Guard, totaling 51 digs. The team finished with 146 combined with Anthony (20), Smith (18), freshman Katherine Mondrik (14) Priddy (13), junior Kaitlynn Rhea (13) and senior Lauren Eden (11) all finished with double-digit digs.

Eden finished with 24 assists with Anthony notching 23 assists.
