Lady Guard soccer finishing regular-season strong

The Brook Hill girls soccer team closed out the regular season, going 3-2 in its final five games to stay in fourth place with a 6-5 record in Division II District 2.

The Lady Guard host third-place Tyler All Saints on Tuesday in the regular-season finale for Senior Night at Herington Stadium.

The Lady Guard took advantage of two forfeit victories from Tyler Bishop Gorman and took care of Garland Brighter Horizons 5-1. Brook Hill’s two losses came against first-place Tyler Grace Community and second place Carrollton Prince of Peace.

Against Brighter Horizons, Morgan Carpenter delivered a hat trick with Katherine Stair adding two goals of her own. Julia Troxell and Jaylen Wheat took care of the assists and goalkeeper Heather McLarry finished with six saves in the victory.

The Lady Guard scored three goals against Grace with Stair, Julia Hardiman and Madeline Reed doing the honors. Heather McLarry finished with 14 saves against the district champion Lady Cougars, who won 7-3.

Brook Hill lost 5-0 to Prince of Peace.

Lady Guard coach David Collins credited the strong play of his midfield and defense this season, led by Morgan Moss, Julia Troxell, Blessing Kima, Jaylen Wheat, Kaitlyn Juarez and Kyla Cardin.
