GARLAND — Brook Hill used a big four-run fourth inning to defeat Dallas Christian 9-5 on Monday and clinch at least a share of the TAPPS District 2-4A championship.

The win moved the Lady Guard up into a tie for first place with Dallas Christian in the league standings. Both teams are 9-1 with the Lady Guard and Lady Chargers splitting their two meetings.

Dallas Christian won 7-6 in early April, but Brook Hill never trailed in the rematch. Taylor Schultz drove in three runs with Kasey Anderson and Lexi Crenshaw also finishing with two RBIs apiece.

Anderson was the winning pitcher, going six innings while allowing four runs — two of them earned — on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Schultz pitched one inning of relief in the seventh.

Brook Hill went to work in the first inning, scoring four runs. Maddie Parker led off with a triple and scored on an bunt from Maddie Anthony. Anthony reached on a fielder’s choice and came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Schultz to make it 2-0.

AD Kuechle walked and Crenshaw followed with a two-run single to give the Lady Guard a 4-0 lead.

Dallas Christian pulled two within a run, 4-3, in the bottom of the first but it would as close as DC would get to the Lady Guard.

Brook Hill made it 5-3 in the second on an RBI double by Schultz that scored Parker, who had singled.

The Lady Guard broke the game open in the fourth with four more runs. Morgan Moss walked and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Kaitlyn Juarez. Anthony then followed with a one-out single to score Moss. A two-out single by Schulz scored Anthony to make it 7-3.

With two outs, Brook Hill loaded the bases for Anderson, who delivered a two-run single that scored Schultz and AD Kuechle for a 9-3 lead entering the fifth. Dallas Christian pulled two runs back, but that was all as Brook Hill capped its regular-season with the win.
