Lady Guard volleyball takes care of Tyler Grace in four games

Brook Hill went on the defensive Tuesday against Tyler Grace Community to secure another district win. The match was played at Herrington Gymnasium.

Thanks to 43 digs from junior libero Brianna Young, the Lady Guard topped the Lady Cougars in four games, 20-25, 25-13, 25-15 and 25-21.

Young’s 43 digs were nearly half of the 97 total digs Brook Hill tallied in the win. Junior Mia Martinico finished with 17, sophomore Maddie Anthony had 10 and junior Megan Priddy had 10.

The Lady Guard also had 9 blocks with seniors Charlie Niles (4), Emily Webb (3) and Lexi Crenshaw (2) doing the honors.

Brook Hill was paced on offense by Niles, who finished with 16 kills and 19 assists. Martinico also had 19 assists to go with 9 kills. Priddy also finished with 9 kills.

The victory raises Brook Hill’s overall record to 9-5 and makes the Lady Guard 4-2 in TAPPS District 2-4A. Brook Hill will next face Dallas Christian on Thursday on the road. The varsity match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
