Mom, I’m bored. We never do anything!
From Shawn Rhoads, Director of Residence Life:
Perhaps you’ve received a phone call similar to the title of this blog. I know at least some of you have because I have received phone calls from parents relaying the message back to me.
Whenever I get those calls I always scratch my bald head, while looking at the activity calendar, and wonder if perhaps a student has transferred to another school without informing their parents. As a matter of fact, I have visited quite a few different boarding schools, from Texas to Tennessee and beyond, and I always come away very pleased with the community life and entertainment that Brook Hill provides, compared with other schools.
For a sample of what opportunities our boarding students have had, just in the month of October, a have provided this month’s activity calendar (other months are equally as action packed). This calendar is developed by the Res Life Counsel (made up of our own Res Life students), under the guidance of Mrs. Lori Dulany, so that we are planning and doing those things that the kids most want to do. And keep in mind that all entertainment at Brook Hill is included in the price of tuition.
Coming up next month there will be a trip to Dallas to watch the Dallas Mavs take on the Houston Rockets. And in the spring, we have tickets to the Dallas Stars vs. the Pittsburg Penguins, along with our annual Texas Rangers baseball game at Globe Life Park in Arlington. There is always plenty to do for any and all student who wish to take part in the fun. You can find the Res Life activity calendar for each month by visiting the Brook Hill website (www.brookhill.org), clicking the option bars (top left), selecting our school, then click boarding . At the bottom of the drop down menu you will see Boarding Calendar. That is where you will find all of the line of great events that your child can take part in.
