THIS IS A REALLY BIG WEEKEND

From the desk of Wally Dawkins, Athletic Director:

WOW! I don’t know if I ever remember a bigger or more exciting weekend than the one we have on hand here at Brook Hill the next two days.

The Brook Hill Athletic Department has been working tirelessly to host a number of events on our campus this weekend that will be fun, provide exposure for our school, and demonstrate what it is like to be a member of the “ALL Orange” Guard Family.

We actually got the weekend off to a great start this morning when 66 of our infamous Brook Hill Lower School Guard dogs had breakfast with 44 BH Varsity Football players in Founder Suite of the Kyle Lake Athletic Center.  It was amazing to see our high school kids getting to know “The Future”!

Tonight in The Lower School Gym we have a sellout! Over 300 people will attend the Tyler Ford/Brook Hill American Warrior Bowl Banquet at 7:00 PM.

At this banquet, we will kick off the Warrior Bowl Festivities as we greet the visiting team from Boca Raton, Florida, the Saint John Paul Eagles, the Eagle Cheerleaders and their coaches.  Our guests will be joined by the Brook Hill Football Team, Cheer Squad and Cadet Drill Team.  We are especially honored to have numerous special guests including Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith, Bullard Mayor Pam Frederick, and our guest speaker Colonel Scott Mac Leod, Commander of the 136 Maneuver Enhancement Brigade and Commander, FEMA Region VI Homeland Response Force.

Now for Saturday August 27th; It all starts with the Warrior Bowl Cross Country Run on the campus of The Brook Hill School as over 300 runners competing in 6 different divisions will cover much of the 300 acres on our beautiful campus.

At 10:00 in the morning in Herrington Gymnasium, the Brook Hill Football Team, Cheer Squad, and Cadet Drill Team will be joined by their counterparts from Saint John Paul in a service project, packing 20,000 rice based meals that will be sent to fight hunger worldwide.  This Kids Against Hunger project is an effort on the part of both school’s behalf to help less fortunate children on a global scale.

At 1:30 tomorrow, also in Herrington Gymnasium, we will welcome back 15 alumni volleyball players as they will take on our current awesome Girls Varsity Volleyball Team in a best 2 out of 3 Match.  This is supposed to be a “fun match”, but knowing the ladies playing on both teams…it is going to be very competitive.

From 5:00-7:00 tomorrow evening in the parking lot of The Kyle Lake Athletic Center and Herrington Gymnasium the rescheduled “Back To School Bar-B-Q” will coincide with our “Ryled Up Tailgate Party”

We will be offering hamburgers, hot dogs, and sausage sandwiches as part of our Booster Club Meal Deal, as we will hold a Pep Rally featuring both team’s cheerleaders, The BH Drum Line, The Cadet Dance Team, and a mini-performance by “Z” The Frisbee Catching Phenom Dog.

Then at 7:05 on Saturday Evening in Herrington Stadium/Young Field, our Pre-Game Ceremony will begin as we honor our nations veterans, men and women currently in uniform, while paying special tribute to our Veterans of the Vietnam War.

Kick-Off tomorrow evening is at 7:30 as The Guard faces The Eagles in a Texas vs. Florida matchup for some “Friday Night Lights” action, while our halftime show proves to be super exciting.

Our Lower School Cheerleaders start off the action followed by the amazing Texas College Marching Stampede Band.  You better old onto your hats!  “Z” returns for a full show and then our Cadet Drill Team concludes the show with an exciting dance routine. Whew!

I know I probably left something out, but how fun is this going to be?

And let me say this; My office staff of Morgan Ballenger & Becky Knight along with Coaches Candise Wise, Scott Ryle and Kyle Ford, have done an amazing job at putting this all together with plenty of help from our Associate Director of Special Events, Sara Scarborough, Jan Hommel from The American Freedom Museum, and parents Jamie Carson & Don Allen.

A big “Thank You” for their help.

So Don’t Miss It.  Spend the day with us at some or all of the activities.  It is going to be great!

And that’s another reason to be “ALL Orange…All The Time”!
