ROTARY CLUB OF TYLER HONORS OUTSTANDING SENIORS

Cole Fitzgerald and Florencia El Hay were honored at the Rotary Club of Tyler this past week for being named Outstanding Senior Girl and Boy at Brook Hill.

Students are chosen based on their achievements through academics, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and athletics. We are proud of their accomplishment and for the way Cole and Florencia have represented Brook Hill in our community through their involvement and pursuit of excellence.

Though this award was given in part based on their high level of academic achievement, it is also a celebration of their character and who they have each chosen to be as individuals. In addition, awards like this continue to encourage a culture of celebration for our students as they work hard and push themselves to be the best they can be!

Cole Fitzgerald is a scholar, athlete, and accomplished leader. Cole was named as a National Merit Commended student this year with PSAT scores that placed him in the top 1% in the nation.

Cole Fitzgerald is creative and enjoys the stage both in theater and orchestra. Cole was chosen as a member of the All-State cast for TAPPS one-act play and has had numerous leading roles in Brook Hill Theater productions. Cole played violin in the Brook Hill Varsity Orchestra for three and a half years, delighting the community and student body with his musical ability.

Cole is a natural leader and was elected to serve as a delegate to Texas Boys State. While attending Boys State he was elected by his peers to serve as a senator, which he reports was one of the most memorable and educational experiences he has had. Cole also serves as Student Body President at Brook Hill, is a member of the National Honor Society, has maintained a 4.0 GPA, was awarded the Faithful Leadership Award from Gordon College, was named Academic All-State for baseball, and recently qualified to serve as a volunteer firefighter.

Cole has plans to attend Texas A & M University and major in animation.

Florencia El Hay is a scholar, athlete, and an outstanding leader with a 4.0 Grade Point Average.

While at Brook Hill Florencia has served as a member of the Boarding House Student Council, Homecoming Court, and Texas Bank and Trust Student Board of Directors. Florencia is an officer in the National Honor Society and is a member of the Head Master’s Honor Guard.

As an athlete, Florencia participated in track and field running the 800 meter as her specialty event, and as a performer, she played numerous leading roles in Brook Hill Dinner Theater and Spring Musical productions.

Last year Florencia was asked to be a guest speaker at the Longview Zonta Club to share her experience in America as a Boarding Student from Argentina. The room full of business professionals listened with delight and did not want Florencia to sit down.  Florencia was recently chosen as the second-place winner in the Bullard Red, White, and Blue Scholarship Essay contest. Students had to write about, “What America Means To Me”.

Florencia has plans to attend Texas A & M on a pre-med track.

We are so proud of them and hope that you’ll join us in celebrating their achievement!
