Schlueter Family
Meet the Schlueters: Blake, Lorianne, Cole (8th), Jackson (6th), and Ella (2nd). They just wrapped up their first school year here at Brook Hill, so we asked them to share about their All Orange experience!
The Schlueters interest in Brook Hill came at a time they knew they needed a change for their family! Lucky for us, a current Brook Hill family continually encouraged them to come check us out. This encouragement combined with Lorianne having known several alumni she had been continually impressed with prompted the Schlueters to give their kids the same opportunities provided by Brook Hill.
The next step in their potential move was a Brook Hill admissions event! All three Schlueter kids shadowed, which their mom shared was intimidating as they were coming from another popular East Texas private school. Lorianne said, “The kids were so nervous – and I was shocked when they got in the car and said ‘Best day ever! Can we start tomorrow?!'” It was overall a great experience for their family, and it really helped them by letting them see what Brook Hill was all about. She went on to say, “Everyone we encountered was just so HAPPY! It was refreshing after a season of sadness and isolation.”

But the decision was not final then. The Schlueters were still considering a number of factors, and ultimately a few factors weighed heavier than others in their decision to join the Brook Hill family, like a “solid conservative Christian education with exposure to others not exactly like our family, welcoming environment, beautiful facilities, and an elementary that still allows kids to be kids and have fun!”
The Schlueters shared the thing that stood out the most was the constant chatter about how invested the teachers become in your kids. Lorianne shared, “I had always heard about ‘intentional teachers,’ but it wasn’t until Brook Hill that we experienced it first hand.”

Since joining, the Schuleters wasted no time in getting to know the heart of Brook Hill through teachers, staff, and families. “It’s a very special community, and we just feel so blessed to be a part of it,” said Lorianne.
The kids got to know people in a different way: they dove in and joined everything they could! From after school clubs to sports teams to chapel experiences, the Schlueters believe “the school does a great job of including all ages together so it feels like one school. It’s a huge part of why Brook Hill feels like a community and not just a learning institution.”

We’re so happy the Schlueters are a part of the Brook Hill family! They add so much value to our school and we have high hopes for other families who will join us and jump right in like the Schlueters have. We asked them what they would say to other families who are interested in Brook Hill, and they shared, “Take a leap and jump in! It can be overwhelmingly terrifying to change schools or start somewhere new. We did not know what to expect our first year at Brook Hill, but after completing it I can say with certainty that there is a place for everyone here. I am so thankful we made the jump – there are families we would have never met otherwise and I am already grateful for the impact they are having on our family. We are happy to bleed orange- come join us!!”
