Softball: Lady Guard fall short to Fort Worth Christian in regional round, caps another strong season

The Lady Guard varsity took the lead early against Fort Worth Christian, but couldn’t hold it in an eventual 9-2 loss in the TAPPS Division II regional round.

Brook Hill finishes another successful season with a 21-8 record.

Kasey Anderson and Alyssa Duplichain led the Lady Guard with two hits apiece and Briana Young had a stolen base.

Anderson and Kyndel Clayton combined for Brook Hill in the circle. Of their combined nine runs allowed, only five of them were earned. The two pitchers also combined for five strikeouts.

Brook Hill went in front 1-0 in the top of the first. Anderson singled with one out and went to third on an double from Duplichain. AD Kuechle then lifted a fly ball center field deep enough to score Anderson.

The Lady Guard trailed 3-1 in the third when Brook Hill grabbed a run back. Kaitlyn Juarez began the inning by reaching on an error before moving to second on a single from Anthony. A ground-out by Anderson moved both runners to second and third for Duplichain, who singled home Juarez.
