Brook Hill volleyball concluded its season Thursday with a 3-0 loss at Austin Hyde Park in the opening round of the TAPPS 4A playoffs. The Lady Guard lost, 25-4, 25-16 and 25-19.

Lady Guard coach Candise Wise said she was pleased with the effort the girls gave in this match and all season and is excited for the future.

“The girls took a tough loss against a very skilled team,” Wise said. “I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that this team has committed to all season.”

It was the final high school match for Brook Hill seniors Charlie Niles, Emily Webb, Maddie Parker, Lexi Crenshaw, Morgan Moss and Kathryn Stair.

The Lady Guard began the match tentatively and Hyde Park (26-14) took advantage to run away for a 25-4 victory.

Brook Hill began to find its footing in Games 2 and 3, stating close to Hyde Park, but the Lady Guard were unable to close the gap fully.

“The first game we were still getting all of the nerves out, but we competed well in the last two,” Wise said.

The Lady Guard conclude the 2015 season with a 13-12 overall record after going 8-8 in District 2-4A in just the program’s second year as a TAPPS 4A school.

“Making the playoffs alone is a huge accomplishment for girls athletics,” Wise said. “I am blessed to have coached them and look forward to what Brook Hill volleyball has in store next season.”
